Defining and Pursuing the Mission
At the recent leadership retreat, the discussion centered around consecrating our lives to God in every aspect of the Christian life, particularly in regard to those tasks for which he has gifted and commissioned us. To that end I proposed a mission statement for our congregation that was approved by the church council. If we are to consecrate ourselves to our task, it’s helpful to have that task clearly defined. Over time, I think it would be good to have this on t-shirts, coffee mugs, refrigerator magnets and whatever else that will help keep the mission clearly before our eyes. Here it is…The Mission of Zion Lutheran Church is to…
SEEK THE LOST through the proclamation of the life-saving gospel of Jesus Christ
ADORE OUR GOD through regular Christ-centered worship and Bible Study
VALUE OUR NEIGHBOR through on-going works of service and Christian charity
ENLIGHTEN THE WORLD through the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit
May the Lord bless us as we consecrate ourselves to this mission.
