We're Glad You're Here

Whether you've been visiting for a few weeks or you've been part of Zion for years, we'd love to connect with you and answer any questions you have about what it means to be part of this congregation.

Membership at Zion is rooted in the teachings and practices of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. It's more than attending services — it's being knit together with a community of people who gather around God's Word and Sacraments, serve their neighbors, and support one another through all of life.

What It Means to Be a Member

Becoming a member means joining together as a visible body of Christ to:

  • Proclaim God’s Word and Administer the Sacraments – Share the Gospel and celebrate Baptism and Holy Communion as commanded by Christ (Matthew 16:13-20; Matthew 28:16-20).
  • Witness God’s Love – Serve as living examples of Christ’s love to the community and the world (Romans 10:14, 17; Matthew 24:14).
  • Uphold Scripture – Keep and teach God’s Word in its truth and purity (Galatians 1:6-8; II Timothy 4:1-5).
  • Act in Orderly Unity – Work together in harmony, conducting all activities in a manner that reflects God’s order and grace (I Corinthians 14:40).

How to Become a Member

The path to membership includes:

  1. Baptism — If you haven't been baptized, this is where God's story with you begins. We'd love to talk with you about it.
  2. Membership Class — Spend time with our pastor learning about Lutheran doctrine, our congregation's life together, and what it means to be part of the LCMS.
  3. Public Confession of Faith — In a worship service, you'll have the opportunity to publicly confess the faith that God has given you and be received into the congregation.
  4. Welcome into the Congregation — The whole church family celebrates with you as you are welcomed as a member.
